Cambridge Colleges
There are many educational institutions in Cambridge. In general there are 31 Colleges. Some of them are for particular category of the students: three for women (Newnham, New Hall, and Lucy Cavendish) and two only for graduates (Darwin and Clare Hall).
Colleges and college education play huge role in the lives of the students. Each college which is a part of Cambridge colleges is independent educational institution and it has its own income and property. Each college has its own experienced staff and its own admission committee. There are special rules and regulations in each college. Each college is divided into several departments. In the same time, colleges are parts of the Cambridge University. Because of it certificates and diplomas are awarded by the Cambridge University.
One of the main peculiarities of Cambridge colleges is that all students and teachers gather together and share their thoughts and ideas. These ideas are great contribution into identification of the Cambridge University. Because of it University is famous in the academic world as center of technology and innovation.
For the period of studying college is a home for students. They eat, live and communicate in the university campus. Cambridge University has several peculiarities in the teaching system. One of the main peculiarities is that students have to participate in small sessions, which are well known as supervisions. Such system if the main reason of the University`s success and high reputation in the academic world.
Besides, Cambridge University offers many programs of Summer Schools. During this School the studetns can improve their knowledge and skills and receive much interesting information.
Each College of Cambridge University has its own sport facilities and libraries, bar and theatres, societies and clubs.
